Hydrofunk Records are excited to announce the new release for THE BOY OF MANY COLORS, with his latest single ‘Good Mourning’ available on all digital platforms Here on Friday September 9.

This latest single is lifted from his forthcoming debut album due for release in early 2023.

Delving into the yarn about past wrong doings and First Nations challenges living in the colony, ‘Good Mourning’ is THE BOY OF MANY COLORS, deepest, realest, and rawest story yet.

It’s a hard conversation to stomach, but something that needed to be said before this young Bama man showcases and celebrates his culture further.  He eloquently yet brutally touches your spirit with the harsh truth of so-called Australia’s past.  So as to make known the past before moving into the future, recognising the reality of the landscape before continuing the practices of this living culture.  Venting pent up passion, clearing his ‘mental’ before venturing forth on his journey of artistry.

Shot at Wirrim Studio in Burleigh Heads, the powerful companion video depicts a gallery space full of cultural art and artefacts, where a crowd are guided on a tour of the colourful heavenly lit space by THE BOY OF MANY COLORS.  Scattered between the beautiful representations of culture are First Nation people who represent the aftermath of colonisation. Themes like depression, alcoholism, domestic violence, and police brutality and all seen in the characters in the space. The crowd cannot see these people at first and are blind to these hardships, they only see the art and magic. This speaks on the way so called ‘Australia’ is today. Many people will turn a cold shoulder or shy away from First Nations issues and only seek the beauty.

THE BOY OF MANY COLORS (Coedie McCarthy) is an artist, musician, filmmaker, songwriter, producer, traditional and modern dancer, and is also a founding member, vocalist and Didgeridoo player with Byron Bay based 4-peice Indigenoise. A multi-talented visionary who is pushing boundaries, his quest is to bring the old ways of his ancestors into the new age.
