FRIDAY AUGUST 19TH @ 8AM - A.B. ORIGINAL have today released their first new music in almost 4 years with the teaser track ‘King Billy Cokebottle’, which precedes the first official single which drops in Aus Music Month this coming November.

Once again A.B. Original are holding a mirror to the Australian way.  The landscape has changed considerably between records, but some things remain same.

This powerful new track ‘King Billy Cokebottle’ is based on the 1970s Australian comedian notorious for wearing blackface in his performances.

‘King Billy Cokebottle drags an ugly side of Australian Larrikinism to the table; where the jokes on us. We get told to get over it and to fit in with ‘Australian Values’. That’s Assimilation, and that is essentially asking blackfullas to not exist; don’t ask us to be ‘one of the good ones’.  If we have to feel the anxiety and discomfort of living in a country that wishes we weren’t here, so do you.' Respectively coming from the Yorta Yorta and Ngarrindjeri tribes, long-time friends, Briggs, and Trials, are socially conscious outspoken Indigenous artists who bring a new voice to Australian hip hop as A.B. ORIGINAL.

It’s been almost 6 years since A.B. ORIGINAL released their debut album ‘RECLAIM AUSTRALIA’ which was widely acclaimed by both critics and music fans across the country. Featuring collaborations with Gurrumul Yunupingu, Thelma Plum and Dan Sultan on the award-winning uncompromising anthem ‘January 26’,RECLAIM AUSTRALIA’ went on to win 2 ARIA awards, 5 AIR Awards, 2 National Indigenous Music Awards, The Australian Music Prize, and ‘Album Of The Year’ at the J Awards.

The ‘King Billy Cokebottle’ teaser single will also give fans a taste of what new sounds to expect when the band hit the stage as main support for Hilltop Hoods on their sold-out national Arena tour.  Additional supports will be exciting Australian singer songwriter ELSY WAMEYO, and world-renowned turntablist DJ TOTAL ECLIPSE.  Full tour details below.
