After releasing his first new material in 3 years with the single ‘Walking To Oman’s’,Fraser A.Gorman has announced his sophomore album ‘Easy Dazy’ will be out July 13, 2018 on Caroline Australia.
‘Easy Dazy' was recorded at Head Gap with producer Nicolas Vernhes (War on Drugs, Silver Jews, Cat Power, Etc) and Melbourne musician Dan Luscombe (The Drones). The record also features guest musician friends including members of King Gizzard, Leah Senior, Anika Ostendorf (Hachiku) and Hollie Joyce.
Gorman's songwriting builds around his ability to convey his life, hopes, and fears openly with sun-drenched tones and lyrical wit. Sonically, the album has a warm and timeless feel. Taking a slight step away from the country folk vibes of his previous releases, 'Easy Dazy’ is more laid-back Americana with a driving pop sensibility. Tasteful horn arrangements sprinkled on a few tracks evoke the vibe of contemporary blue-eyed soul and the lush background vocals evoke the sound somewhere between Transformer era Lou Reed and Bill Fay's 'Omega Day'.
He has also filmed the companion video for the single which sees Fraserand band play in front of a Wednesday night team building session. A group of unlikely people, bound by their vulnerability, gathered together to support each other with an array of team building exercises.
Every advance of humankind arises from the suffering of the soul. Musicians know this only too well. That's why some of us need support groups. We get lost, we go off-track, we are fallible - We are human (and we need to be loved).
A game of trust, tug of war, pass the guitar singalongs and group therapy all happen in front of the house band, who with charisma and grace, keep playing. Both the group and band are oblivious to each other. For Fraser and co, they have seen this all before.
Although these characters find salvation in this Wednesday night ritual, it is merely temporary. If only because it still doesn't answer the more fundamental question of why does it feel like our life is constantly degenerating into an uncontrollable farce.
Directed by Sunny Leunig (Courtney Barnett, Paul Kelly) and Geoffrey O'Connor (Donny Benet, Gold Class) the clip was shot in a Masonic Hall in Abbotsford, Melbourne. It's important to note that no goats were sacrificed during the making of this clip.
‘Easy Dazy’ will be out July 13, 2018 and is available HERE on Caroline Australia
