Well-known figure around the Melbourne music scene Wally Kempton is taking the plunge in 2018 and launching his brand-new Record Label Cheersquad Records & Tapes.

With a background in Music, Music and more Music, Wally has worked at radio stations, venues, record companies, distributors, been a booking agent, artist manager, tour manager, a band member with Even and The Meanies, and now a Record Label founder with Cheersquad Records & Tapes.

Primarily creating the new label to release material he is passionate about, Wally says ‘I wanted to put out music that I really loved, and thought should be heard.  I also wanted to make older, fabulous Aussie material available on 12” vinyl for the first time’.

So, in 2018 Cheersquad Records & Tapes will release new material from acts such as Money For Rope, Minibikes, Andrew McKeag Band & Los Chicos, along with older material from artists including Sidewinder, Snout & Even.

Melbourne five-piece surf/soul/rock/garage band Money For Rope are excited to be the first official release on Cheersquad Records & Tapes with their single ‘Earl Grey’.  Lifted from the forthcoming album ‘Picture Us’, the digital single will be available on Spotify & iTunes and will be released on Friday May 4 here in Australia through Believe Music, and in Europe on German label Haldern Pop Recordings.

The band will be launching the single at the following venues:

Saturday May 5 - Curtin Bandroom, Melbourne

Fri 11 May - The Wicko, Newcastle - Tickets available

Sat 12 May - The Chippo, Sydney - Tickets available
